The company San Ginés specializes in decorative ceramics and tiling for architectural projects.
The Company was born in Talavera de la Reina in 1999 and its manager is Monica Garcia del Pino, great-granddaughter of Juan Ruiz de Luna, the man behind the rebirth of Talavera pottery in the early twentieth century and in whose honor the city museum was rose and bears his name.
The company respects local tradition, both in technology and in the use of decorative features, but has made a major innovation to the sector through researching. This line of work has allowed us to expand the use of ceramics to new applications in accordance with the demands of modern life. We take part in research projects sponsored by different agencies. San Ginés is partner of the Department of Applied Mineralogy at the University of Castile-La Mancha and consulting firm in the study on the feasibility of industrial production of Talavera pottery for domestic use, which has opened up new possibilities and markets to the sector. It has also been part of the project D.Artes incorporating design for the craft sector of the Spanish Foundation for Innovation of Crafts.
San Ginés has extensive experience in conducting tiling projects for facades and interiors of buildings. Among its major landmarks is the coaching of Victoria Theatre restoration in Talavera de la Reina and the painting of murals for private institutions and public institutions, such as the U.S. Embassy in Madrid.
Throughout his career, it has also been prominent presence in the decorative field to small scale. The Regional Government of Castile-La Mancha selected San Ginés to carry out the institutional gift of the marital bond of the Kings of Spain, consisting on a Renaissance hand-painted tableware.
In 2009 won the Regional Award for Handicrafts Applied Design for its project “The Gorrinucha”.
In April 2010 San Ginés received Talavera City Award for the Promotion of Local and Regional Identity in recognition of the performance of hand-painted world´s largest ceramic mural.
In November 2010, San Ginés is named Company of the Year 2010 by the Toledo Business Federation
San Ginés Ceramics obtained National Crafts Award as best artisan product of 2010 by its Mural at Oran Convention Centre.
The jury praised “the assumption of a project of this scale and success in their implementation, which has been shown, in addition to the high technical quality, a great capacity for innovation in both the product itself and the production processes, and the organization and communication.”
